Background and TrainingStephen Altbaum earned a Master's of Science in Marriage, Children and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. He was a preschool teacher for two years while attending U.C. Davis where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Social Welfare. Stephen ran a residential group home for severely disturbed adolescents for four years. His training covered multicultural clients, inpatient and outpatient settings, intakes and assessments, an numerous modalities of treatment. He has worked in various hospital and residential treatment facilities in Northern and Southern California, both as a Director of Social Services and Clinical Director. For three years Stephen spoke at the annual California Society for Children conference, lecturing on topics such as "Troubled Teens", "Running an Anger Management Group with Disturbed Teens", and "How to Talk to Your Teen About Sex". He currently works in the Teen Intensive Outpatient Program at Kaiser Permanente in Hayward and maintains a small private practice in Fremont, CA.
